Barcelona Wine Week for us is the most important event of the year when it comes to keeping up in the Spanish World of Wines. Since we are an importer with focus Spain this is where we can meet many of our already established business partners from around Spain, but of course also search for new interesting wines. To be able to meet and discuss with so many professionals at once is very good to keep updated on the latest trends and challenges.
If you find the time and have some Spanish knowledge there are also many interesting masterclasses and round table discussions to listen in to. Also outside the fair it gives you the chance to enjoy and meet people within the business keeping up with the wine scene of restaurants and wine bars. All together gives you great impressions and a good start to the year continuing working with the wines back in Sweden.
As a fervent enthusiast of wine, the opportunity to participate in the International Barcelona Wine Week was particularly meaningful due to my profound affinity for Spanish wine. Spain's rich viticultural heritage and its diverse terroirs consistently produce wines that captivate my palate. Being part of an event celebrating this cherished heritage will amplify my admiration and deepened my appreciation for the unique flavors and complexities inherent in Spanish wines.
I've attended BWW for three times now. For me it is always a great opportunity to participate in Barcelona Wine Week. The fair occurs on a very opportunistic time of the year (being one of the first international agendas) and is always a great occasion to meet Spanish Producers, prospect new partners, taste the new vintages and follow the trends of the booming Spanish Vitiviniculture. For years now Spain has been gaining market share in the Brazilian market with our customers understanding the great quality, variety and unbeatable value for money we can find in the several regions, indications of origins and D.O.s. The Fair itself as well as the Hosted Buyers Programme is impeccably organized with very well signalized pavilions, great facilities and electronic platform to organize the meetings and agendas. Enjoying the Catalonian city of Barcelona and its amazing gastronomy and beatiful wines is also a benefit worth mentioning.
Visiting Barcelona Wine Week with the Hosted Buyers programme was a very good and productive experience. Not only did I have the opportunity to connect with wineries we have been working with for years, but I was also able to discover new producers who have become key pieces of our portfolio as a result of that first meeting at BWW. I was also able to attend the presentations and tastings given by excellent producers and sommeliers, as well as specialist writers and journalists.
The Alimentaria and now the BWW hold a special place in my heart. It was the first wine show I ever participated in many years ago, and it gave a tremendous boost to our company portfolio.
Every time I return to Seattle from Barcelona, I am not alone. I carry with me a wealth of great memories, new friendships, and amazing discoveries. Even when you think it's impossible to find something truly outstanding and still a great value, these events prove otherwise. They allow you to witness industry trends, discover small, unknown producers in our part of the world, reconnect with old suppliers, and find fresh ones.
One of the most noteworthy aspects for me is how everything is meticulously organized. I always want to express my gratitude and say, 'Great job!' The Hosted Buyer program has been exceptionally helpful, and I appreciate it tremendously. Thank you for facilitating such valuable experiences.
Barcelona Wine Week has quickly established itself as a very exciting and important fixed date in our annual calendar and is, in our opinion, the most important leading trade fair for the wines of Spain. The elite of the small, quality wine producers that are so important to us are almost always present as exhibitors. This allows us to get an overview of the current vintages and to establish or maintain contacts. In addition, the size and structure of the fair allows us to specifically seek out new talent. With the associated Hosted Buyers programme, professional pre-planning and on-site support, a visit to the fair is also a very pleasant experience.
The BWW is for us the most important annual fair, where we catch up on all the latest news about Spanish wines. This event is essential to connect with producers, sommeliers and experts, and to establish business connections.
I attended BWW for the first time as a hosted buyer in 2020. It was a very successful event and I met with many exhibiting wineries. The wines from Spain are some of the best in the world and attending BWW is a way to connect with wineries from all over the country.
When you buy wine everything counts, colour, smell, taste and the feeling about winery. We sell not only wines, we sell stories that is why on-line meetings could never replace contact face to face. In 2022 I was invited for the first time to BWW and the fair was perfect: many interesting wineries, one special Mencia from Ribera Sacra and much more.
For us, as importers, BWW is a very attractive fair because it has, for example, a large area with natural wines. The selection of wineries is also quite interesting and it is very easy to make contact with new wineries and to meet with wineries we already work with. The hosted buyers programme is also an advantage, as it is possible to make appointments with potential new wineries in advance.
Visiting Barcelona Wine Week is very interesting for several reasons:
The size of the fair is ideal, it doesn't become exhausting.
In addition, the diversity of producers is excellent, we can find from big name wineries to small unknown wineries, all under the same roof.
Another point I like about BWW is the possibility of finding very young producers who dare to produce wines with new styles, which will eventually mark the profile of the wines we will see in the near future.
In short, BWW is a professional but relaxed fair, with a great atmosphere thanks to the diversity that can be found. It is a voyage of discovery that for wine buyers becomes a highlight of the year - not to be missed!
The BWW is the best ‘one-stop shop’ for everything about Spanish wine. It is very systematically organized by region or D.O. which makes it very efficient for visitors to get to each meeting with specific wineries. The masterclasses and expert panel forums are very useful in bringing us latest updates on trending topics too. I only wish the show will go on for an extra day so that I could cover more wineries and forge more potential relationships with the wineries. I am looking forward to be back at the 2024 edition!"
I own a wine agency in Atlantic Canada and attended BWW for the first time in 2023. It was a rewarding and memorable trip. The show was well-organized, the staff were extremely helpful when needed, and the event space was well situated.
Our agency operates in a monopoly state in Canada, so it can take a long time to see results. This was the first show I can remember that I had new products in our market within 6 months of discovering them at BWW. That speaks to the quality of the wines made in Spain these days, as well as the breadth of selection offered in general, and on display at BWW. Looking forward to visiting again in 2024!
I like BWW as it is a very compact fair with a very good representation of different regions and different styles of wines, with a choice of small wineries along with large international groups too. The timing is very good too. Barcelona is also a great place with excellent food and convenient logistics.
Barcelona Wine Week was great last year. So excited that I can go back this year! To be able to visit the different winery booths all arranged geographically by DO was the best. I got to try seven different wineries from Mallorca. Interested to see how they taste this year. Bravo!
As a company we are very happy that the Spanish bottled wine business is becoming more and more modern, reaching a leading position in the world. This BWW is a showcase for Spain and, of course, a lovely city to meet new wineries and the people behind them. BWW is one of the best fairs I have ever attended, always committed to improving with each edition, presenting a great selection of exhibitors and activities that enrich the experience.
Spanish wine is the most popular category for consumers in Ireland. It is incredibly important for us to have a strong range of wines from across Spain and BWW allows us to spend three days focusing ourselves on the range of wines and current trends. We will continue to use BWW to help us source new and exciting wines for the foreseeable future.
In BWW I was able to find what I needed within the 3 days of the event and completed my purchase plan for Spanish wine for the year. BWW is definitely a one-stop solution for quality Spanish wine and I highly recommend it to any wine buyer!
The wine week is always an excellent opportunity to meet wine makers of Spain and get to know more about their wines. Expert advise about wines has always been essential to us in making informed purchasing decisions especially when taking on new brands.
The 2022 Barcelona Wine Week was one of the best wine fairs I have attended in my career. The excellent Matchmaking system planned out my schedule efficiently, and the quality and ethos of producers I met was very high, especial in the Artisan area. I purchased 11 new wines from 6 new producers I met in Barcelona, and as a result Spain has risen to the #2 country in sales at my company, WineSpark.
